The Audion Silver Night Special Edition line level and MM phono stage is designed to closely match to the looks and sound quality of the rest of their Special Edition range. 

The Special Edition Pre-Amplifier combines a mixture of known topologies and sonic signatures from their Premier range and is a crossover product between Audion Premier Line/Phono plus and a 2 Box Audion Premier Quattro.  

The Special Edition uses a full choke power supply along with several active power supply stages for the line level buffer stage and also the RIAA Moving magnet phono stage. 

Visually, aesthetically and sonically too, it is designed to closely match the other amps in Audion's Special Edition range. The transformer lid, front panel, knob and valve fillets all share the same parentage so will match your Special Edition power amplifier perfectly. 

Options: Product options for the Special Edition Pre Amplifier are limited by the amount of remaining space available within the chassis, however Audion is still able to fit a remote control volume or a 48 way stepped attenuator, better signal capacitors and even more silver wire for the full audio path. Audion also offers WBT Nextgen RCA terminals, as well as  various valve options.

Audion offers 2 upgrade classes for the Special Edition Pre-Amplifier. The upgrade classes are Insignia Class which uses a full silver wired audio path, better graded components again in the audio path, tantalum resistors in the critical places and WBT RCA terminals.
Excelsior Class uses the same as above but with the inclusion of Teflon/Tin foil V-caps, Internal Solid Silver fully wired Interconnects, seiden (or equivalent) switches, a  48 way Stepped attenuator, better power supply capacitors and WBT RCA’s. 

The option to go to full Signature Reference would only be available if the amp was factory hard wired from the start, but at this level we would ideally be recommending the Audion Premier Quattro in either 2 or 4 box variants. 

Components of the Audion components:

• Transformers and chokes are design and handmade by Audion: Mains, chokes and output transformers.
• Superior quality parts sourced from Europe or the US. Even the capacitors are made to Audion’s exacting specifications.
• Chassis’ are finished in-house which includes powder coating and electroplating to ensure quality.
• Special voicing of Audion amplifiers requires every part be meticulously designed to meet their standards.
• Every component is hand built usually point to point. Once burned in they listen again in case they are not satisfied before releasing each unit.
