This Audion is a switchable hard wired stereo amplifier and represents our intermediate level power amplifier, using the well known 300B tubes or switchable to 2A3. Auto bias. zero feedback. Like all our amplifiers it is hand built. The amp is auto biased and depending on the output tube used offer  CLEAN 2.5W, 3.5W or 8W into 8 ohms.  Therefore, its has the power of competitor amps boasting 5-16W.

The Audion Silver Night Anniversary DUO is different from other amps in that the user can tube roll between any 300B, any 2A3 or any type 45 tube, obviously more careful choice of speaker is needed.

This Audion amps deliver 7 watts into 8 ohms from a 300B, 3.5 watts with a 2A3 and 2 watts with a Type 45. Switching is done at the rear by swapping fuse positions and the heater voltages are self sensing within the amp. Tube rolling is easy as the amp is auto biassed. Audion amplifiers are hand built and point to point hard wired (Air Wired©)  We avoid the use of Chinese components where possible.

This triode based stereo amp uses no (zero) feedback in the design. The chassis is black powder coated aluminum as is the transformer cover. The top plate and badge are mirror finished stainless steel. Loudspeakers of 89db or better efficiency for 300B mode 95 db or better for 2A3 and 98db or greater for type 45.

The Audion Silver Night range of amplifiers are the best known of the Audion products, and the ones that have won most awards, notably amp of the year in Japan 2010. The SN 300B hard wired was the amp originally reviewed by Sam Tellig that put Audion’s name onto the map. Integrated option (5 Stereo inputs is available on all stereo models).

Having a volume control on the front and stereo inputs on the rear means that a pre-amplifier is not necessary with this unit, but however we would recommend the use of one. These amps are all auto biased. The DUO amp comes with JJ300B tubes and also Electro Harmonix 2A3 tubes.

The Silver Night Stereo amplifier range can reproduce subtleties and nuances in music that can not be found in other amps of this price. The 300B gives a good overall sonic performance from a well know tube, whilst the 2A3 delivers less power and is suited for loudspeakers really over 97db efficiency, they can be used with speakers of less efficiency but will “run out of steam” quicker. 

The Audion DUO is a good amp to experiment with different tubes and create different nuances and subtleties of music reproduction. The DUO’s transparent electronics allow the user to see the sonic difference between tubes. This amp is wired for 8 ohms, however they have a 4 ohm tapping that can be changed internally. 

All Audion Stereo Amps are available as an integrated which provides 5 inputs and tape. Volume remote is also an option.

Optional upgrades are interstage capacitors and superior resistors. Prices quoted per request due to changing market pricing.

Components of the Audion components:

• Transformers and chokes are design and handmade by Audion: Mains, chokes and output transformers.
• Superior quality parts sourced from Europe or the US. Even the capacitors are made to Audion’s exacting specifications.
• Chassis’ are finished in-house which includes powder coating and electroplating to ensure quality.
• Special voicing of Audion amplifiers requires every part be meticulously designed to meet their standards.
• Every component is hand built usually point to point. Once burned in they listen again in case they are not satisfied before releasing each unit.
