Love at first sound
Introduced in 1972 to what at that time was considered hi end audio, I purchased my original system. My dealer at that time, recomended I purchase tube equiptment, but with different views at the time, I opted for what I thought was key, 105 watts per channel, a Mac solid state system. About three years ago, I decided to upgrade my turn table, and was introduced to Deetes Sound Room in Charmichael, CA. Deetes, having been there since the 60's, has seen it all in audio. His laid back approach is focused on eliminating the customers normal, buy/trade/upgrade cycle. Deetes shares the experiances of his long time customer base, and the up trading they did to get where they are. Unable to accept that 7watts could sound as dynamic as 105watts, I started comparing. Countless days at the Sound Room comparing amps like Audio Valve, Audio Note, the two most worthy opponents, I came to notice, whenever I went to the Sound Room the Audion Silver Nite 300B was always playing. I also came to discover that untill I got to the $20.000.00 Audio Note mono blocks, with big upgrades, and Western Electric tubes, I found the Audion Silver Nite, was a shining star, and at a fraction of the cost of others, without the need for a pre amp, which could cost as much, or even more than the amp. Now I knew that the Audion was what I considered the best buy in audio, but I still did not believe it's low power rating would drive my LE85's, and LE15A's, used to 105watts. After expressing my concern, Deetes handed me the Audion, and sent me home to try it on my system. As soon as the music began I knew my search was over. It took 20min for me to break away long enough to call Deetes, telling him to write it up, I was now a proud Audioneer! Value, without sacraficing quality. Try it, you will love it!
